WordCamp has to end eventually but the FUN doesn’t!
Whether you were at WordCamp or just following along online, you know we made our presence well known – Keep Marketing Fun was the motto of the event – at least for us.
We were proud to be sponsors of this 2 day event and had a blast doing our thing on stage as speakers – well at least I did. If you know me at all then you know how much I love the limelight 🙂
As an ex-organizer of WordCamp’s 4 years running and a longtime WordPress “unofficial evangelist” It was great to finally be on the other side as an attendee and sponsor – in fact this was the first WordCamp in almost 10 years that I had the opportunity to sponsor.
As a marketing agency content is super important to us and even though we may not use WordPress in all of our projects we have a strong connection to any community of bloggers and writers – thank you WordCamp for letting us get involved and welcoming us with open minds.
We had the chance to discuss marketing, content, and of course WordPress with some incredible people this past weekend. A big topic of discussion for us was the “Responsive Web”. Our presentation – Build a Responsive Theme in WordPress with ZURB’s Foundation 4 Framework – on Sunday was extremely well received by a full house of WordCamp’ers in the Amphitheater.
It was great to hear so many attendees and speakers discuss the importance of responsive design on the web including Automatticians – we all agreed it should be mandatory along with Accessibility.
We were really impressed with the team of developers from Carleton University who not only believe in the responsive/accessible web but have implemented over 200 WordPress sites across the campus built on the Foundation 4 framework. We had an opportunity to ask Troy Chaplin and Mike Corkum on camera why? This is what they had to say:
We’d like to thank all the WordCamper’s for their support, all the attendees at our presentation, and most importantly the organizers for putting together an amazing 2 days of WordPress goodness – kudos!
The FUN isn’t over yet! We’ll be at SocialMeex this Wednesday July 4th with Mark Shaefer, and the following week we’re hosting our own fringe event at the International Startup Festival – Startup Marketing 101. We hope to see you all there!
