I saw this video and thought, “Yes! They get it”.
This video beautifully illustrates the power of words and how words can dramatically effect behaviour. Any marketer will have a grand appreciation for this video. Copy is about making people relate and empathize. In this video, there is a homeless man with a sign stating, “I am blind, please help”. He is merely stating a fact. A passerby rewrites the message on his sign to, “It’s a beautiful day and I cannot see it” and BAM! My heart strings pull and I want to empty my change purse. Perspective is everything. The new message creates a chain reaction – more people get it and help him out.
This is what websites need to be doing. Evoke emotions, make people reflect and take action.
