Have you seen the annual StePhest Colbchella musical extravaganza?
If you live in Canada you most likely haven’t, see picture to the left, but that’s not the only thing Comedy Network is banning! Stephen Colbert promised his fans a celebration of “the song of the summer of the century” by booking Daft Punk for their first TV appearance since releasing “Random Access Memories”.
So what does this have to do with our Fun Friday Post? Yesterday a post by Huffpost Music Canada reported that MTV banned Daft Punk from performing on the Colbert Report because they had signed a contract to make their first appearance since releasing “Random Access Memories” on the 2013 MTV VMAs – of course Viacom neglected to mention this to Stephen Colbert until the very last minute forcing him to tell their dirty little secret on National TV and calling in a ton a favours to replace Daft Punk with Ashton Kutcher, Hugh Laurie, Jeff Bridges, the Rockettes, Matt Damon, Jimmy Fallon and the “Breaking Bad” cast, led by Bryan Cranston on roller skates and a final appearance by Robin Thicke.
So there you have it, we were inspired to share with you our favourite songs of the summer!
Our top summer songs was inspired by “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk, because Leila is always dancing around at the office to this song.
Daft Punk, Instant Crush – The Saint
Why? Because it’s hooky and I can’t understand a word they’re saying!
PSY, Mother Father Gentleman – The Poet
Why? Because my kids love dancing to this song. On average we watch this video 5x a week each night after dinner and the kids get their freak on!
Icona Pop, I Love It – Beth
Why? This was the ultimate girl power song of the summer. I pop the CD into my discman and sing along. Love the attitude!
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Can’t Hold Us – Moniba
Why? ‘Cause I’ve been listening to it since the first day of summer!
