Montreal Entrepreneurial MashUp – this is what the startup community needs more of

Screen Shot 2013-10-10 at 1.47.01 PMCalling all startups! If you are looking to get your product or service in front of industry leaders, the Montreal Entrepreneurial Mashup is a great place to be.

As many of you know, the Brendans and myself have a soft spot for startups as we ourselves are a startup and have many startup clients. Noah Redler, from StartUp Canada is kicking off the Montreal chapter Thursday October, 24th with a unique event that bridges the gap between startups and successfully established corporations. The event, Montreal Entrepreneurial MashUp will open with speakers LP Maurice, co-founder of startup Busbud and Denis Andlauer, seasoned CEO of Orleans Express. The pair will tag team their talk drawing parallels and differences from their experiences as a startup and as a corporation. If you’re curious how startups are not corporations, read this dated but still relevant post from Steve Blank. The Mashup event will select 7 startups to pitch their product or services to retail giant Canadian Tire, Real Estate mogul Cromwell-Management and one more corporation, yet to be announced. Have a look at the website to read what the companies are seeking in terms of services or products to see if your company could be a good fit.

It is refreshing to see StartUp Canada MTL position startups as potential vendors for large corporations as well as see corporations open their doors to startups as providers. Well done to Noah and the team of volunteers at StartUp Canada MTL. We need more events like this.

Good luck and hope to see you there!
